The room was buzzing with excitement on July 14 as 18 campers gathered at SWWC in Marshall for Reptile Camp with The Zoo Man! Campers explored turtles, tortoises, and snakes from around the world, learned how to safely handle reptiles, fed Princess Lisa the African spurred tortoise, and discovered fascinating facts about these incredible animals.

On May 20, SWWC hosted a Regional Literacy Symposium for districts to share, learn and grow. It was a full house of superintendents, principals, district literacy leads, and other staff interested in learning (and celebrating) the AMAZING work taking place in SW Minnesota.

As another school year is approaching an end, more than 900 area students and participants went on a field trip and made memories at the 2026 Science and Nature Conference on Tuesday at Southwest Minnesota State University, hosted by the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC).

The SWWC Foundation recently received a donation to provide one AAC Modeling Device to each SUN classroom at all six SWWC Educational Learning Center (ELC) sites! These devices allow teachers, paraprofessionals, and peers to model symbolic communication using their own AAC system while interacting with students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Nearly 90 students from across southwest Minnesota were bustling with energy and excitement on Thursday at the annual Building Identity event, hosted for students with various levels of hearing loss to spend the day together.
