To address AI’s ever-advancing impact, SWWC has launched the Center for Artificial Intelligence Development in Education (AIDE). AIDE provides school districts with the information, resources, and professional development needed to stay on the cutting edge of developments that will revolutionize education. AIDE is a cross-collaboration effort, tapping into expertise from SWWC’s Technology Solutions Department, including Technology Integration, Cybersecurity, and Technology Leadership teams. As AIDE evolves, we intend to collaborate across SWWC, ensuring that our research and development of resources address all education and administrative ecosystems.

We strive to empower administrators and educators to harness AI’s enormous strengths, creating a brighter future for generations to come.

Feedback from Schools

A.I is no longer emerging, it is here and it is a significant part of education. Like many things, it can be a powerful tool to be used by teachers but also difficult to manage if they are not aware of how to use it. David did an excellent job with our staff at Canby High School presenting on how A.I. can be used to make a teacher's life easier and streamline routines. David gave time for staff to practice with it and many walked away feeling they had tools to use in the classroom immediately. A.I. professional development needs to be a priority for districts and David is an excellent resource.

Alex Greenway, Principal
Canby Public Schools

The AI workshop we received from Southwest West Central Service Cooperative was very helpful. I am a teacher who teaches English and dealing with AI for essays has been a problem that is growing constantly. My goal is to help students write, try to utilize AI in a beneficial way, and work "with" students regarding AI. This topic is changing everyday and by having the coop come in and help our teachers in a group setting and taking the time for one on one, is very appreciated.
Barb Antony, ELA Teacher
Canby Public Schools

TAPS hired David Berner to educate our staff on the ethical and practical uses of AI in the classroom.  His presentation provided helpful information that was relevant for all teachers in grades K-12.  David shared strategies for teachers to help bolster lesson plans, incorporate innovative ways to present curriculum aligned with state standards along with helpful tools and tips for students to utilize AI.  All staff was engaged and felt time was well spent learning about AI.

Dr. Chad Anderson, Superintendent
Tracy Area Schools

Artificial intelligence impacts every aspect of our lives and its use is expanding at an exponential rate. To prepare our students to use AI effectively and safely, our teachers first need the right tools and knowledge base on how to use A.I. in school. David Berner’s SWWC presentation delivered exactly that, empowering our staff to lead the way with AI in education.

Ryan Nielsen, Superintendent
Canby Public School

The A.I. Training by David Berner and SWWC was extremely informative and practical to all teachers new and experienced.  David and his team will answer any and all questions but then follow up with you days and weeks later to check in to see how else they can support.  We plan to utilize his team and their wealth of knowledge moving forward this school year and beyond.

Lucas Novosad, Teacher
Tracy Elementary School

David is one of those presenters educators genuinely look forward to learning from. Year after year at our Lake ECMECC Conference, he has a way of making AI feel approachable rather than intimidating, while giving teachers hands-on experiences and resources they can actually use. I consider David one of the top AI in Education presenters in Minnesota, and I’m always excited when we have the opportunity to put him in front of our educators.

Jeremy Mikla, Instructional Technology Specialist
ECMECC

David Berner's A.I. sessions contribute to and enhance ELA curriculum as they provide access to resources I did not previously know. I appreciate that David presents A.I. resources as a way to supplement curriculum development and delivery to students - this is not A.I. solely doing the work. Teachers learn how to input content and revise in order to suit curriculum and needs.

Denise Kaupang, ELA Teacher
Redwood Area Schools

David's AI work session was very helpful for our district's AI workgroup. It got us kickstarted with a solid template for AI guidelines. He helped us include and think about the many important areas to create a well rounded final document.

Nick Schmidt, Director of Technology
Hutchinson Public Schools

SWWC shared an introduction to generative A.I. with guests at our senior center. While this topic can feel intimidating to the senior population, David made it approachable, practical, and relevant to everyday life while encouraging questions. The discussion about recognizing scams, misinformation, and fake content was especially meaningful. It was a great event, and reminder that learning opportunities like this can make a real difference for participants, and we appreciated SWWC recognizing that our senior center is an important place for this kind of education, too.

Katie Brusven, Coordinator
Marshall Adult Community Center

The A.I. professional development we did with our teachers was practical, relevant, and immediately useful. It gave our staff a better understanding of how A.I. can support their work, save time, and enhance what they do in the classroom. The training sparked great conversations and gave our teachers tools and ideas they can put to use right away.

Brian Gilbertson, Principal
Edgerton Public School

The AI training gave our staff clear, practical ways to use artificial intelligence for lesson planning and daily routines. David did a great job of lowering teachers' anxiety around using AI and giving them simple strategies to streamline their daily workflow. It was a great professional development session, and we look forward to future workshops on helping students utilize AI ethically in the classroom.

Katie Gervais, Tech Department
Tracy Area Schools

The A.I. professional development provided by SWWC has been practical, relevant, and immediately applicable to the work we do in our schools. The training has helped me better understand how A.I. can serve as a valuable tool for both administrators and teachers—improving efficiency, supporting creativity, and allowing us to focus more of our time and energy on students. I appreciate SWWC’s leadership in helping school districts navigate A.I. thoughtfully and responsibly.

Todd Holthaus, Superintendent
Hills-Beaver Creek Schools

David, your guidance on the project was the most valuable. You were able to gently steer us, while still letting us make our own genuine decisions. We would still be stuck at the beginning if it wasn't for you.

It was beneficial to have David help give us guidance and keep us on task and to keep moving forward.

Take the time with SWWC to learn about AI and work with them and your team to come up with your own policy that fits your district the best.

Minneota Public Schools

We were pretty lost as to how to get our AI process started. This has given us a framework to be able to build our AI policy and guide our discussions.

West Sioux (Iowa) Public Schools

David has provided timely and informative training for our staff and admin around AI topics. He has been patient and meets the learners where we are at to challenge us to improve our AI use and creativity to become more effective as educators.

Molly Schilling, Superintendent
Adrian Public School

I highly recommend David. He does a great job explaining the website and how it can help you build a strong/solid AI policy.

David was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions.

Boyden-Hull (Iowa) School District

David’s monthly, bite-sized training sessions helped our staff build AI proficiency in a way that felt manageable and sustainable. Rather than overwhelming participants with too much information at once, he introduced tools and strategies in thoughtful increments, giving teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators time to practice, apply, and build confidence. We are deeply grateful for David’s commitment to supporting our team. He did more than teach new technology; he helped create a culture of continuous learning and provided a roadmap for integrating AI thoughtfully into our work.
