Welcome to Low Incidence - Visually Impaired
SWWC staff provide:
- Assess and Support Student Needs: Evaluate how a student’s vision impacts learning and recommend appropriate accommodations, tools, and strategies.
- Teach the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC): Provide direct instruction in essential areas beyond academics, such as orientation and mobility, social skills, independent living, assistive technology, career education, and self-determination.
- Adapt Educational Materials: Convert textbooks, visuals, and assignments into accessible formats like Braille, large print, tactile graphics, or digital formats.
- Collaborate with Educational Teams: Partner with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure students are fully supported and included in school settings.
- Promote Independence and Self-Advocacy: Empower students to navigate their environments confidently, make decisions, and advocate for their needs in school and beyond.
