Important Notes About Private Universities

  • Hamline University and University of St. Thomas are private institutions, which may have additional out-of-pocket costs, even with financial aid.
  • Be sure to fully understand any potential extra costs when choosing your university partner.

Choosing the Right University Partner

When selecting a university partner, keep the following in mind:
  • Talk to a Trusted Colleague: Discuss your options with a colleague or mentor who has experience with the universities or programs. Their perspective can help you make a more informed choice.
  • Consider Program Level: Some universities offer only Master’s degree programs (graduate-level), while others offer both Bachelor’s (undergraduate-level) and Master’s degree programs. Be sure to select the program level that aligns with your current educational status and goals.
  • Evaluate Flexibility and Costs: Consider the program's format (online, in-person, hybrid), costs, and flexibility to ensure it fits your needs. While all of the university programs offer online options, some require sporadic in-person meetings.

By starting slow and seeking advice from others, you’ll be better prepared to make decisions that support both your academic success and personal well-being.
