The following are details about the one-time READ Act Literacy Aid appropriations.

Region 6 and 8-SW/WC Service Cooperative (0991-83) received the following amount of READ Act Literacy Aid in the 2024 school year:

The plan to spend down the remaining funds are as follows:
The remaining funds will be strategically allocated to support continuous alignment with READ Act guidelines through robust professional development and the procurement of evidence-based instructional materials. Specifically, remaining funds will be used to cover the daily and hourly rates of pay for internal trainers facilitating critical literacy sessions, including Paraprofessional trainings. Additionally, these funds will hourly wages, or reimbursements for educators and staff who attend these sessions, while also reserving necessary resources to onboard and train future hires who must complete mandatory READ Act training. Finally, any remaining funds will be invested directly into classroom instruction by purchasing approved, high-quality literacy curricula and intervention materials, specifically the Read 180 Curriculum and Functional Phonics, ensuring our educators have the tools required to effectively support struggling readers.
