Career Expo Recap

The 2025 Southwest Minnesota Career Expo provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore the wide variety of career and educational paths available across the region. Held on September 23 and 24, the event took place at Minnesota West Community & Technical College – Worthington Campus and the Red Baron Arena in Marshall.

This year’s Expo featured participation from over 100 employers and postsecondary programs, all sharing information about career options, training pathways, and the many opportunities that exist right here in Southwest Minnesota. The event also highlighted the strength of local industries and the diverse jobs that support our communities.

Across the two event days, the Expo welcomed more than 1,700 students from 35 area schools. The success of this large-scale event was made possible through the collaboration of over 350 volunteers representing numerous partner organizations, including:

  • Southwest Initiative Foundation
  • Southwest Minnesota Workforce Development Board
  • Minnesota West Community and Technical College
  • Southwest Minnesota State University 
  • Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council

  • Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce 
  • CareerForce offices in Marshall, Montevideo, and Worthington 
  • Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development 
  • Plus many regional businesses and service agencies

Teachers, students, and exhibitors alike shared positive feedback, noting that the Expo was an impactful experience for students to discover what Southwest Minnesota has to offer and to begin identifying career paths worth exploring further.
