As another school year is approaching an end, more than 900 area students and participants went on a field trip and made memories at the 2026 Science and Nature Conference on Tuesday at Southwest Minnesota State University, hosted by the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC).
The SWWC Foundation recently received a donation to provide one AAC Modeling Device to each SUN classroom at all six SWWC Educational Learning Center (ELC) sites! These devices allow teachers, paraprofessionals, and peers to model symbolic communication using their own AAC system while interacting with students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Nearly 90 students from across southwest Minnesota were bustling with energy and excitement on Thursday at the annual Building Identity event, hosted for students with various levels of hearing loss to spend the day together.
In February, Josh Sumption, Chief Technology and Information Officer of SWWC Service Cooperative, was named the Minnesota State E‑Rate Coordinator, taking on a pivotal role in supporting schools and libraries across the state as they navigate the federal E‑Rate program. In this position, Sumption will help educational institutions and public libraries maximize access to affordable, reliable broadband and networking services—critical infrastructure for teaching, learning, and community connectivity.
