The Region 6 & 8 Low Incidence Projects are pleased to offer a Special Education Licensure via Portfolio Kick-Off Meeting for educators who have been approved by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) to pursue special education licensure through the Licensure via Portfolio pathway.

This full-day kickoff session will feature PELSB staff who will provide an overview of the licensure via portfolio process, portfolio requirements, timelines, expectations, and available resources. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the steps involved in completing the portfolio process.

Following the kickoff meeting, participants will be invited to register for the Region 6 & 8 Special Education Licensure via Portfolio Cohort. The cohort is designed to provide ongoing support throughout the portfolio development process through a series of full-day work sessions. Participants will receive dedicated work time, guidance from regional special education leaders, opportunities to organize and reflect on required competencies, and collaboration with other educators pursuing special education licensure.

The cohort work sessions are intended to help participants make consistent progress toward developing and submitting their required portfolio(s). While attendance is not required by PELSB, participation is strongly encouraged to maximize the support and resources available throughout the process.

Please note that participation in the kickoff meeting and cohort does not guarantee licensure. Portfolio review and licensure recommendations are determined solely through the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) portfolio review process.

Presenters: PELSB staff

Registration Fees: SpEd Coop Member and Non SpEd Coop Member Fee: Free (registration is required)

After receiving this notification and once PELSB eligibility has been initiated (PELSB may take up to 30 days to confirm eligibility), Cassandra Gohman will send the teacher the cohort registration link.
