The BEST in CLASS – EC Coach Workshop is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of participants in the delivery of the BEST in CLASS – EC practice-based coaching format. This workshop is comprised of didactic instruction, role playing, and applied activities. Participants gain skills in the implementation of successful coaching of BEST in CLASS – EC including the essential coaching elements, awareness of the BEST in CLASS – EC practices, and steps of the BEST in CLASS – EC coaching process.

Target Audience: Internal district coach, lead EC teacher, administration

Presenters:  Meghan Reichel and Maureen Conroy

Meghan Reichel is the Senior Project Coordinator with the BEST in CLASS Team in the Departments of Counseling and Special Education and Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Meghan provides operational support in service of the team’s mission to bring evidence-based practices into schools. Her perspective is shaped by early career experience in elementary and early childhood settings. Since joining BEST in CLASS in 2019, Meghan has been grateful to contribute to the work of translating research into practical, accessible support for educators. 

Maureen Conroy, Ph.D., is the Anita Zucker Endowed Professor Emeritus, founding co-director emeritus of the Anita Zucker Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Studies, and professor emeritus of special education and early childhood studies in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies at UF. As one of the co-developers of the BEST in CLASS, Dr. Conroy is widely recognized for her research focused on developing, validating and evaluating interventions for young children with social and behavioral challenges.

Requests should be made by an individual with a disability who needs auxiliary aids, closed captioning, and services, or by someone acting on that individual’s behalf. Requests may be made either in writing or orally. Requests need to be made and received by Deecy at least two weeks in advance of the program, activity or service in question. SWWC will address all requests but may not be able to arrange for the provision of an appropriate auxiliary aid, closed captioning or service if notice is not received two weeks in advance of the program, activity, or service. SWWC requires a notice of three business days to cancel an accommodation request. If an individual fails to give notice of cancellation three business days prior to the event, SWWC reserves the right to bill the individual’s school district/agency for this expense.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received by 4:30pm on the date noted in your registration confirmation email to qualify for a full refund, after which all registrations are final, and no refunds will be issued. Substitution of attendees from the same district/organization will be allowed up to the day of the event. In the event a workshop is canceled by SWWC, a full refund will be given. SWWC will notify registered attendees that the refund will be occurring and will post on the account for the credit card utilized for payment. This cancellation policy, including specific cancellation details provided in event registration information, will be followed when determining if a refund will be issued for cancellations that are not the decision of SWWC.
